Sunset Cliffs Residence
Living Room
For the living room we improvised with wooden cubes, part of the sides we burned with fire using Japanese technic of “shi sugi ban” and covered with epoxy resin adding a little glamor.
Patio
For the patio, we made a dining table from the boards that we found after the renovation of the historic hotel in downtown San Diego – Grand Pacific Hotel, these boards were the base in the floor when the building was being renovated, they replaced the supporting structures, the building was jacked up, and we had a limited amount of time to pick up the boards it was a whole mission
First of all, the quality of these boards is just excellent, they have been under the building since 1887 and have remained in perfect condition. The thickness of the boards 2 “was done for a long time honestly. There were traces of a saw on the boards, nails with a square hat. This is just an amazing material! And under a matte varnish it looks like old skin and prevents splinters.
Living Room
In the living room, according to the classics, a specially made live edge table on metal bases with blue epoxy inlay:
We also made a lamp from an old pier beam and a massive live edge fireplace mantel:
