About Us
We’re Old Fashioned Lumber, a San Diego–based workshop founded in 2016 by Don Woodard. After rescuing an old barn’s lumber on Whidbey Island, Don fell in love with the stories each plank carried. Joined soon after by Zakhar Smirnov, our workshop transforms reclaimed wood, metal, stone, and resin into furniture that feels like history you can touch.
